Have You Thought About Being This Kind of Rich Before?
When I mention the term “rich,” most people immediately think of money, but that’s not what it means to me—or perhaps you. For me, true wealth is embodied in freedom; having ample time to do meaningful things without restraint or limitation. I want to be time rich – and that is something I can control and work towards. When that is your focus, it makes business so much easier. It takes the pressure off trying to be money rich.
Becoming an ace at time management and maintaining a healthy work/life balance can appear out of reach for ambitious female entrepreneurs. Nevertheless, with some key advice and tricks, you could easily become the master of your schedule – all without having to overwork yourself.
Small businesses have been a reliable source of income for families over the years, but now with the internet, launching and managing your own business is simpler than ever. Taking advantage of this modern-day convenience gives you an amazing chance to make good money from the comfort of your residence or workplace – be it at home, in a factory, studio, or office. But there isn’t enough talk about being time rich.
Although the journey of entrepreneurship is not always free from trials and tribulations, it can be immensely rewarding. To ensure that your business brings you ample rewards – both financial and emotional – it’s crucial to make wise use of your time while working hard on making your dreams come true.
Operating a business from home may be comfortable and provide an escape, but it also has its drawbacks. Without the discipline of leaving your house for work, staying focused on tasks can become difficult very quickly. This lack of focus will almost certainly lead to less-than-ideal results in comparison to what you had initially set out to achieve with your venture.
Speaking from my own experience, working from home is a tough gig. I get easily distracted by housework, the dogs, and the accessibility to my TV. With nobody to report to but myself, I don’t get things done as quickly as I would if I were working for someone else, which makes me wonder where my commitment has gone sometimes.
But I am working towards something greater than any JOB can give me – becoming time rich!
MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR TIME IN A HOME-BASED BUSINESS
So, what’s the fix? Developing a timetable to help manage your life at home will help ensure that everything gets done when it needs to be. The key is to strike the right balance between your personal life and business activities, ensuring that you have enough time for both.
Staying organised can be a lifesaver when you have daunting tasks on the horizon – breaking them down into smaller, achievable goals will help keep you motivated and focused. Drawing up a list of objectives for each day is beneficial in this regard – as well as carving out time to spend with family, pursue leisure activities and engage in other pursuits that make life enjoyable.
Being time rich means having freedom to do what you want, when you want.
Here are some rules I am putting into place for myself – and maybe you will try them too?
1. Use work time wisely.
Devote a particular amount of time each day to work and keep that moment strictly for job-related activities. Don’t be side-tracked by the television or something else; remind yourself that you have set aside sufficient hours for everything, so use this period exclusively for your tasks. The school day goes remarkabley fast. If you count up the total amount of hours you have available it is just 6 hours per day. Then you need to schedule breaks and lunch – don’t skip these.
Rest is an essential factor in achieving success with your home-based business. Without proper rest, you will likely become overly tired and irritable – greatly influencing the quality of work produced as well as the amount. I know that trying to work after school is only going to lead to frustration and poor quality. My next work time is when everyone goes to bed. This allows me to be present for my family. I sit and watch TV with them, go to the gym, to the shops, I give myself permission to put work aside and hang out – it benefits everyone.
You need to avoid the temptation to cut into your rest time to get more done; use rest time for actually resting so your work doesn’t suffer.
Once your timetable includes scheduled breaks during work slots, you’ll have something to look forward to. You’ll also have less of an urge to take “unscheduled” breaks while working.
Why is Time Management Important for Startups?
Of course, how you manage your time at home will significantly impact the success of your at-home business. But poor time management can also affect the rest of your life. That’s right, haphazardly working at home can take its toll on other things.
- Working without a plan, or in an ad hoc manner, could be dangerous for your important family activities and other leisure pursuits. By reserving time ahead of schedule to engage in these activities, you can ensure that they are not neglected.
- As a home-based service business owner, it is important to prioritise fitness, health and diet. If you overlook these elements of your lifestyle, it could put your overall well-being at risk. An unhealthy work-at-home earner cannot sustain their sole source of income – so don’t let that be you.
It’s very easy to get so absorbed in your home-based business and forget the importance of other aspects of your life.
Once you lose focus, your relationships will start to suffer and you may start neglecting your health. If you’re working more than 16 hours per day, then you’re most likely not exercising or eating properly. Nor are you spending time with your loved ones. Try to steer clear of this scenario.
Once you create a structured approach to your business and life in general, you’ll find that you’ll accomplish more and get more financial fulfilment from your business. You’ll also be able to achieve balance in other aspects of your life as well!

Why is Time Management Important?
Time is our most precious commodity. We all have limited amounts of it, and we need to use it wisely to achieve our goals.
Time management is important because it allows us to make the most of our time and prevents us from wasting it on unimportant tasks. It allows us to prioritise our activities and focus on what’s important, while also allowing us to plan so that we can be prepared for any eventuality. Time management also helps us achieve a better work/life balance.
Don’t try to do too many things at once. Prioritise your goals and tasks, and make sure that each one is important and has a corresponding timeframe.
Create a daily plan. This should include tasks, breaks, and time for rest. This will help you stay focused on what needs to be done, while also giving yourself some breathing room.
Learn to say “no”. It’s okay to turn down an opportunity if it doesn’t fit into your schedule.
Don’t overcommit yourself. Set reasonable deadlines and boundaries for your tasks and goals, and don’t take on too many projects at once. Boundaries hurt if you suffer from FOMO, or people pleasing, however, it is important to understand that boundaries are essential for maintaining healthy relationships and protecting your well-being.
I am going to keep saying this until you start doing it. Working non-stop is so exhausting, even though you might not realise it when you are doing it. Breaks are essential for productivity and well-being. Taking short breaks throughout the day will help you stay focused and energised.
Stay organised and keep your workspace tidy and organised, as this will help you stay on top of tasks and reduce stress levels.

Timers can help you organise your time by setting specific deadlines for your tasks. I bought myself a set of timers from Amazon.
Who doesn’t love a Post-It! Sticky notes are a great way to jot down ideas or reminders and they can be placed anywhere in your work area.
Time Rich Management Techniques To Try
The Pareto method is a way to manage your time using the 80/20 rule. The Pareto principle says that 80% of your results come from 20% of your activities. So if you focus on doing the most important tasks, you’ll achieve most of your results.
The “eat the frog” method means that you do the most difficult tasks first to avoid feeling overwhelmed later in the day. This method helps you break down large tasks into smaller, more manageable pieces.
How it works:
- Set your daily goals. What is it you want to achieve that day?
- Make a list of these goals and how long you need to spend on them.
- Create a task list of each thing needed to complete a goal.
- Prioritise your goals and tasks so that the things you want to do least are the first to be completed.
- Do the work.
- Once you have completed the task on your list, move on to the next goal.
- Repeat these steps until all your goals have been completed.
The Pomodoro technique is a way to manage your time. You focus on completing a task in 25-minute intervals. This helps you stay focused and eliminates distractions.
The Eisenhower matrix is a way to help you figure out what tasks are most important. To use it, first identify your critical tasks. Then put these tasks into two columns with the most important tasks in the left column and the less important ones in the right column. Finally, put a checkmark next to the task that tells how important it is.
There are many other time management tips available, and the best way to find what works best for you is to experiment with different techniques. Employing effective time management will help you achieve your goals more quickly and with less stress
